Virus attack!

I did a self diagnose of the current situation i am in. Looks like i got mononucleosis

"Mononucleosis is often transmitted by saliva. While it is known as "the kissing disease," occurring most often in 15- to 17-year-olds, the infection may occur at any age."

And no i have not been kissing anyone lately.

Will be out of running for erm quite sometime..

run- North (yishun) - east (eastcoast park) 30.3km

"Maddness!" thats the response i get from family and friends when i tell them i am goin for a 30km midnight run with a bunch of SGrunners. But i guess everything has a first time.
Met up with SV, James, ws, kops, sabrina, yulan, FBB, cokkie at mcdonalds northpoint. The run started at 12:20am at northpoint. All of us spoting fuel belt or hydro backpacks, was quite a scene. Some where around ang mo kio sabrina having a headache decided to make her way home.

Along the way , somehow folks on the street will kinda cheer u on. At novena , some guys in a chiongster car screamed at us "jia you!" was wondering if they are implying to us or they are looking for a petrol station. haha. Somehow the only shops that are open after midnight are 7-11 or petrol station minimarts, And that gives us time to go to the toilet or simply replenish drinks and "tok cork" for a bit.

2:30am reached orchard our midpoint break , kelly was there busy snapping away pictures of us arriving. Almost wanted to shout out "are we the first team?" ala amazing race. Well as expected the west runners takes a longer time to run down from the boonlay side.

Finally the west team arrive at about 3am and we are off to bedok jetty. I tagged along with the faster group which consist of kops, cheow, shobido, andy, ws, cokkie and burnz .
Reached bedok jetty at about 4.45am. there we see cheows wifey with her dog (jack russell rain) greeting us.

Well supposed to be a sunrise event but unfortunately the clouds obscure it but somehow kelly managed to catch a glimspe of it.

In the end we all washedup and headed back to mcdonald for the much needed carbo loading.

Now i am nursing a fever , maybe brought in by the onset of the latenight run.. poor me

Run - esplanade (nike trial)

Was comtemplating on the weather if i should go for the nike trial run over at runninglabs. Coz around my area it was raining cats and dog. But looking at the rain radar and observing the movement of the rain over a period of 30mins. I decided that its not going to enter the CBD area So away i went

Came down at about 6pm and the nike shoe trial guys are already on standby. We see some new shoes like free 5.0 , nike air moto brand new out of the box for serious trial running. At first i want to go for pegasus but i feel the sole a little too thin for comfortable cushion run. So i went for the air structure triax 9 for stability and cushion.

Alot of new faces came for the run, probably becoz of the nike trial . OVer 20 people turnup, familiar faces like IMD , SV, VRP gals , Tekko, hedgehog, DR, divey, molly, catherine, kai etcThe route choosen this time was a simple run towards the esplanade park up to the kallang furniture mall and back.

After the run, we had dinner along boat quay. The guys poke fun at imd about him havin a huge fan club haha.. not to mention the gals adore him haha. Too bad ladies hes attached!

Distance : 7.9km
Timing : 42mins 21s
Pace : 5.34 mins/km
HRM : NA

Shoe description from website
"The Nike Air Structure Triax 9 running shoe is an evolution of the franchise, offering cushioning and transition. Iconic synthetic leather midfoot saddle provides great midfoot fit. Support overlays engineered to provide flex in forefoot and additional medial overlays enhance stability. Mesh base for breathability. Soft, durable PU crash pad combines with dual-pressure heel Air-Sole® unit and footbridge to slow rate of pronation. Dual-density helps prohibit overpronation. Forefoot Air-Sole® unit disperses pressure at toe-off. Midfoot shank supports foot through midstance. W.A.R.P. Tech in forefoot reduces duration of pronation. Tri-zone outsole achieves improved transition, traction and comfort. Decoupled crash pad using BRS 1000™ for durability rides through to Waffle Fill™ traction and power-off zone. Lateral outsole with Duralon™ provides great ride."

My verdict
A good and comfortable shoe with good cushioning and stability. Did not feel any roll over or slippage. Springy for the the first 5km probably shock absorbtion kickin in. forefoot cushioning not alot. Ventilation a tad bit warm as compared to my mizuno waverider and asic race speedstar. overall a good shoe to run long distance in.

Run - yishun -sembawang park - hotspring 11km

Informed late from james about the run. But lucky i managed to wakeup in time for it.
Ran down to sembawang mrt station to meet up with the guys. James , cosmic ,nemo and his friend andy dropby for the run. Cosmic all the way from bedok applaude him for going the distance for this run.

This time round there is a slight variation to the end route. We will be ending at the sembawang hotspring. As a guy who stayed in yishun for many years i have no idea where this fabled hotspring was. And i was surprise to find it tucked out of view in the belly of the army camp.
Opening hours to the hotspring was from 7am-7pm.

Hopefully we can make this a compulsory endpoint stop for all our tired feet.

Running down to sembawang park "pant pant"

Running up hill at kings rd

Sunrise at sembawang park...

Ermm why is everyone not posing?

Hotspring alas... feels good after the run...

Last time i went to botanical garden was like couple of years back and the furthest i went was the swan lake. Anyway the Sgrunners decided to organize a monthly botanical garden run lead by renoh and brokie. The turn out was huge, just look at the pic. We started at about 7.30am just after the rain had stopped.

Brokie, cokie, daisaki, alvo, meteor, fatty bb, jamesoh, igloo, patrick, junie, tiwazz,SV, taz, cyber, renoh, bee, nemo, hedgehog, (le charlotte holding camera).

The route starts from the old SMU and then into botanical garden which has a couple of new attraction like the evolution garden (journey back to the pre-historic time to see the evolution of plant life on earth) . Then we headed out to tanglin road and into orchard (first time i run in orchard road and it sure feel good with no crowds around) and looping back from istana into bukit timah and back to old SMU.

Took a shower at SMU before goin down to food haven for some makan time with the gang.

Be warned the food monster is on the loose

Run - fort canning - kimseng 7.9km

Today i came down early for the nike shoe trial , unfortunately it did not happened. Some sort of miscommunication between nike and the organiser i suspect. But none the least , a huge turn out for the run. DO, BR, Divey, tekko, VRP, hedgehog, IMD, SV from Sgrunners turn up. Others like DO colleagues, katerine and kai. New comers eugene and ashara. As i did not bring my shoe for the run, dino kindly lend me his brand new asic gel speedstar.

A bit stiff support . Good ventilation for short distance.

Started from fortcanning. Went up and did about 2 rounds there I dont recalled seeing a lighthouse there but its there haha. Came down via overhead bridge and ran along the singapore river towards zouk bridge. Cross it and ran back to the boat quay area to warm down.

surprise at the end of the run , we were give a pair of nike socks due to the no show of the shoe trial.

Distance : 7.9km
Max Hr : 182
Timing : 45:19
Pace : 5.6 mins/km

Out with the old ..in with the new

Was comtemplating on changing the blog due to some technical restriction , such as posting of comments , referencing of pages, size of the viewing window...etc. I guess one page with everything in it still the best. haha

Lets hope it does not rain today before the trial run :P

Cheers

Run - YishunDam - Jln Kayu 7.37km

Woke up early on sunday for a run with the guys from the northern side this morning. Whats the difference is that we will be merrying up with the north east group of the Sgrunners for prata at jln kayu.

At 640am i picked up LL and Jon, drove down to yishun stadium to link up with the canberra runners. Jamessoh, chung, james, kelly, azmail, SV, Tiwazz came charging through at about 7.10am.

Today the sun was partly covered by the clouds and was really good day for a run. And the hue & low tide along the dam was really a sight to behold. Ran thru the seletar airport area which used to be a restricted airbase, around the area now housed workers working in the vacinity. Most of these houses are colonial day single stories bungalow. Unlike the ones at sembawang. On the garden of one of these bungalows , have even a terracotta warrior statue. Probably standing guard over the property haha.

When we reached the end point at the main gate of the camp. Sure enough the North east group of SG runners were there( IMD, Kickjazz, Nemo, bee, junie , patrick etc) Brokie aka kenyan runner, parked her car at jln kayu intending to meet up the NE group midpoint instead missed them and so she had to run back by her self. Along the way i heard she bump into SC5 and notme. Apart from that not much incident.

Had our Pratas and drinks before heading back by bus to the stadium to collect the car.

Total distance : 7.37km
Time : 50mins
